You could say that the term all-mountain was coined just for the Deacon. Long, medium or crisp, short turns; cruising or skiing at the limits of speed; soft slopes or hard – if you’re ambitious about performance, look no further. The Deacon with the 72 mm waist was developed for people who like to carve quickly through every radius and sometimes really let rip.

SPECS

The Deacon 72 has been reworked from the ground up.

New geometry, a widened shovel and shortened tip and tail rocker bring out the best in turns of any radius. Two less millimetres at the waist allow you to switch edges even faster and with less effort. Its versatility is magnified by Tailored Carbon Tips. Carbon fibres applied using Vlkl’s exclusive Tailored Fibre Placement (TFP) process allow our engineers to influence curve behaviour with great accuracy. The strength and alignment of the fibres define the force you need to apply and the energy that builds up where it’s needed. Agile shovel reaction is a feature of special note. This means that as soon as you initiate a turn, the ski begins to steer in a measured and controlled manner, depending on how the edges are employed. This construction also allows means less weight without any loss of stability. Last but not least, TFP allows our designers to tailor every length to the requirements of each target group.

TECHNOLOGY

Tailored Carbon Tips

In this innovative manufacturing process the new Tailored Carbon Tips are produced by embroidering the individual carbon fibers onto a carrier material. The stiffness, torsion and thus the skiing characteristics can be specifically adjusted via the fiber thickness and millimeter-precise alignment. In this way, the fibers guide the dynamics to the areas of the ski where they are needed. The visibly integrated Tailored Carbon Tips are light, allow an agile shovel reaction with less effort and quickly build up energy. The Tailored Carbon Tips thus reach a new level of precision, direct tip response and active skiing pleasure.

3D.Glass

3D.Glass is Volkl’s development to futhermore improve overall ski performance and stability even in critical snow conditions. Compared to classic glass constructions the three-dimensional and multiple-folded glass layers in the tip and in the tail area result in an increased edge grip and a more vivid rebound behavior in turns.

Full Titanal

The titanium setup makes the ski agile and dynamic. Especially friends of a hard, fast and aggressive riding style benefit from the quick response of this construction.
